Operation Safe Streets

On December 7, 2005 at Guerrero and 28th, we participated in a public pedestrian safety awareness campaign conducted by:

  • SF Police Department
  • SF Department of Parking and Traffic
  • SF Department of Public Health
  • California State Automobile Association (AAA)
  • Walk San Francisco
  • Senior Action Network

We handed out more than 3,000 safety pamphlets to drivers

Motorists were stopped at a temporary stop sign and given

Dozens of neighbors handed out flyers or cheered us on.

Pedestrian "stings" continue

The pedestrian safety awareness campaign will continue to focus on the San Jose/Guerrero corridor, also branching out to other "hot spots," including 19th Avenue and Park Presidio.

During nine recent enforcement days, the SFPD Traffic Division issued over 965 violations for pedestrian right-of-way violations and for speeding.
