Trees in the Street

Sharing the parking lane

This picture shows a detail of the plan proposed for Mission Street in which trees are placed in the parking strip.

by Gelfand Partners Architects

Pros

  • Less expensive than widening the sidewalk and planting trees in the sidewalk
  • Adds trees without taking any road width

Cons

  • Reduces the number of parking spaces
  • Street cleaners can't easily clean behind trees
